The Scent

The first thing the nose registers is that tomato leaf note, sharp and slightly bitter-green, sitting right next to rose instead of fighting it. Freesia adds a powdery lift underneath, keeping the opening from feeling too vegetal. Within the first twenty minutes, the rose steps forward and stays there, but it is joined almost immediately by jasmine, which rounds out the floral core and keeps it from reading as soapy or old-fashioned. Sandalwood and cedar move in underneath around the half-hour mark, and this is where the fragrance starts to feel distinctly masculine despite the floral heart. The wood is creamy rather than dry, more sandalwood than cedar in the balance, and it gives the rose something solid to rest on.
