Yves Saint Laurent Y Le Parfum

The Y line is YSL's modern blue franchise, and Y Le Parfum is its most concentrated member. This is the 2025 Y Le Parfum, created by Dominique Ropion, which replaced the 2021 version of the same name. It is a fresh pine and fir balsam scent over patchouli and amber, opened with bergamot and ginger. The Scent

The opening is bergamot and ginger, bright and a little spicy. It is clean and energising, the familiar freshness of the Y line, without the sharp apple that defines Y EDP.

The heart is where the 2025 version finds its identity: pine, balsam fir and geranium. YSL calls the pine a midnight pine accord and sources the geranium from its Ourika Community Gardens in Morocco. The result is a cool, green, forest-like freshness with a soapy, clean edge. Wearers describe it as a sweet pine forest air rather than the fruity feel of earlier Y scents.

The base is patchouli and amber. Fir balsam carries its resin into the drydown, patchouli adds a dark woody depth, and amber warms it. The finish is woody and ambery but still fresh, which is the tension YSL built the scent around.

The change of formula has split fans. Many loved the 2021 Y Le Parfum, with its apple, aldehydes, lavender and tonka, and were disappointed to see it replaced. Others think the 2025 version is the better fragrance, cleaner and more mature. One reviewer finds its geranium and balsam close to Prada Paradigme.
