Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent took a different approach for Yves Saint Laurent Y Eau de Parfum Intense in 2023, treating it as a revision of the Eau de Parfum rather than a new interpretation, and the headline change is what they removed. The Scent
The first spray is calmer than the name suggests, and reviewers who expected a sharp citrus and floral burst with a ginger kick consistently report being surprised by how relaxed it is. Juniper is the note that defines the opening, dry and faintly gin-like, working with bergamot to create something cool and green rather than fruity. Ginger is present but restrained. Losing the apple changes the whole character, and this is the single fact that predicts whether someone will like it: people who loved the sweetness in the EDP tend to find this version flat, while people who found the EDP too sweet or too synthetic consider it the better fragrance. The heart runs lavender, sage and geranium in a fairly classical fougere arrangement.
