Common Questions
Good to know
-
It is the real surprise of the composition, substantial enough that on some wearers it pushes the fragrance toward something powdery-sweet and almost cosmetic. It can read elegant and skin-like, or carry an unexpected soapy character in the first thirty minutes before the warmth builds.
-
It can register early on some skin types as a brief earthy murkiness that not everyone welcomes, but that roughness resolves as the dry-down settles around tonka bean, akigalawood and vanilla into something considerably more sophisticated, closer to skin than the opening minutes suggest.
-
Love, don't be shy shares that same marshmallow-vanilla foundation, though the two arrive at it from different directions: that one leans into honeyed orange blossom, while Woman in Gold gets there through aldehydes and rose instead. Worth setting side by side if you want to hear how one base can wear two very different personalities on top. See Love, don't be shy.
-
The aldehydes sit lighter than a classic soapy wall, catching the citrus and lifting it, and warm conditions tend to soften that lift more quickly, bringing the vanilla-akigalawood base forward sooner than it would develop in a cooler, drier climate.
-
The marshmallow-heavy heart is genuinely divisive in its first thirty minutes, reading elegant to some and soapy to others, so testing that phase directly on your own skin is worth doing before spending on a Kilian-tier bottle at this price point.
