Sedley arrived in 2019 as something Parfums de Marly does particularly well: an Eau de Parfum rooted in classic aromatic fougere territory but wearing with a lightness and clarity that reads as fully modern. Created by Olivier Cresp and Hamid Merati-Kashani, it is unisex in both intent and execution, landing closer to the crisp-clean end of the woody aromatic spectrum than to the heavy or gourmand side of the PdM catalogue. The Scent

Mint is the note that hits first, sharper and more pronounced than you might expect, riding alongside a bright squeeze of lemon and bergamot that keeps the whole opening from feeling heavy or medicinal. Grapefruit and mandarin fill out the citrus layer with some body, giving those first few seconds a faintly juicy lift before the herbs take hold. Lavender and rosemary arrive together, and this is where Sedley finds its personality: the lavender is clean and herbal rather than sweet, and rosemary adds a slightly sharp, almost astringent edge that feels genuinely aromatic rather than barbershop-nostalgic. Geranium sits beneath both, contributing a faintly green, rosy texture that ties the heart together without introducing a floral softness. Olibanum, the resinous frankincense note, is subtle at this stage but adds a faint churchlike depth that anticipates what the drydown will become.
