Description - Pearl Oud
Petal-soft and quietly distinct. Genuine Kilian Pearl Oud EDP decant from ৳1,237 in Bangladesh. Notes of rose, Turkish rose and ylang-ylang.

Kilian built its reputation on The Smokes, a line that treats bakhoor and incense as luxury materials rather than afterthoughts, and Pearl Oud is where that idea gets its most polished treatment. Released in 2015 under perfumer Christian Provenzano, this eau de parfum takes the smoky, resinous backbone of oud and pairs it with rose and saffron until the composition feels closer to jewelry than to a straightforward wood scent. Aromatica carries the Kilian Pearl Oud decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes, so you can experience the concentration Kilian intended rather than a diluted approximation.

Fragrance Notes

Top: Saffron, Black Pepper

Heart: Turkish Rose, Rose, Iris, Ylang-Ylang

Base: Agarwood (Oud), Castoreum

The Scent

Saffron announces itself first, dry and slightly metallic, with black pepper adding a prickle that keeps the opening from feeling soft. Within minutes the pepper starts to fade and the floral heart pushes through, led by a Turkish rose that reads jammy and dense rather than fresh cut. Ylang-ylang adds a creamy, almost banana-like undertone beneath the rose, while iris brings a cool, powdery contrast that stops the florals from turning cloying. This is the point where the fragrance splits opinion: on some skin the rose stays dominant for hours, sweet and slightly medicinal, while on other skin the iris takes over faster and pulls the whole composition toward a colder, more mineral direction. Both readings are legitimate outcomes of the same formula. As the second hour arrives, agarwood starts working its way up from the base, bringing a dark, leathery smokiness that wraps around the rose instead of overpowering it. Castoreum joins late, and its animalic, slightly sweaty warmth is what gives the dry-down its unusual, skin-like intimacy. By the final stretch, the saffron and pepper are long gone, the florals have thinned to a whisper, and what remains is oud and castoreum sitting close to the skin, smoky and a little feral in a way that feels deliberate rather than accidental. The two roses listed in the notes do not behave as one block: the Turkish rose supplies the jammy density while the plainer rose note fills in a lighter, papery edge that keeps the heart from feeling like a single dense chord. Black pepper and saffron, though gone from the surface by the second hour, seem to leave a faint dryness behind that keeps the rose from ever tipping into pure sweetness even once agarwood and castoreum take over. Iris in particular seems to resurface in trace amounts during the transition between heart and base, briefly cooling the leathery warmth before the castoreum settles in. Ylang-ylang's creaminess also lingers longer than expected, threading through the agarwood so the smoke never turns fully dry or ashy. Taken together, the notes move less like a straight line from top to base and more like a slow handoff, with rose, iris, and ylang-ylang each fading at slightly different rates against the constant of the oud.

When to Wear

This suits late autumn and winter evenings, the kind spent at a candlelit dinner or a slow gathering where people stand close enough to notice what you're wearing. It reads too dense and too warm for daytime heat, but it earns its keep at formal dinners, art openings, or a date night where you want the scent to feel considered. Who Is It For

Someone who already owns a rose fragrance or two but wants one with grit under the petals, the type who prefers a scent that smells expensive up close rather than loud from across a room.

If you gravitate toward this pairing of rose and oud, Rose Oud sits in the same family and rewards a side-by-side comparison. Browse the full Kilian collection at Aromatica.

Available as an authentic decant in Bangladesh at Aromatica in 3ml, 5ml, 9ml, and 15ml.
