Common Questions
Good to know
-
They overlap on the sweet-floral idea rather than the formula. Yara is built on orchid, heliotrope and tangerine over a gourmand accord with vanilla, musk and sandalwood, so it reads creamy and fruity. Love, don't be shy is an orange-blossom fragrance first: neroli and coriander into a huge honeysuckle-and-orange-blossom heart, with marshmallow, caramel and a thread of civet underneath. Yara is the softer and rounder one, and it has none of the animalic edge this carries in the base.
-
Not in the way the word suggests. Civet here is a trace note doing structural work, adding a faint warmth and body under the sugar so the marshmallow and caramel do not read as flat candy. You are unlikely to pick it out on its own, and nothing about the wear is animalic in the way a vintage chypre would be. What it does is stop an extremely sweet floral from feeling weightless.
-
A related marshmallow-rose idea taken in different directions. Woman in Gold pairs that theme with an aldehydic top and an akigalawood-tonka base, pulling it drier and more polished. Love, don't be shy stays entirely in orange-blossom-and-honeysuckle territory, sweetened further by sugar, caramel and vanilla, so it reads louder and more overtly candied than its sibling.
-
Yes, by design. Orange blossom and honeysuckle bloom huge and indolic from the start, and sugar, caramel and vanilla take over completely by the dry-down, with nothing dry or green to hold the sweetness back. It belongs to evenings and cold-weather occasions rather than daytime wear, where its scale would feel out of place.
