Common Questions
Good to know
-
Because La Nuit de l'Homme has been in continuous production since 2009, and the batch year is the only way to say precisely which bottle a decant came from. Wearers of this fragrance discuss production years more than almost any other designer masculine, so the year is information rather than decoration. We also stock the current release, letting you compare them directly. See La Nuit de l’Homme.
-
It arrives faster and softens sooner. Cardamom is the whole point of the first twenty minutes here, and on hot skin it lifts almost immediately, compressing the green, creamy spice cloud that defines this fragrance. Lavender and bergamot behind it fade the same way. What remains through most of a humid day is the drier cedar and vetiver, quieter than the opening suggests.
-
Not quite stronger, more like a different destination. This original stays dry throughout, built on cardamom into lavender and Virginia cedar over vetiver and caraway. Le Parfum keeps the cardamom opening but adds a fruity accord and French labdanum through the heart, then finishes dark on vanilla, patchouli and vetiver. Expect denser and sweeter, not just more concentrated. See La Nuit de l’Homme Le Parfum (Batch 2013).
-
Yes, and it is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. Caraway is subtle but consequential, lending a dry, slightly anise-adjacent edge that keeps the base from reading as merely soft or generic once the vetiver and Virginia cedar have settled in. Without it, the dry-down would lean more purely woody; with it, there is a faint spiced undercurrent through the final hours.
-
If you want to see how the line has been presented across different years, the catalogue also carries the 2014 Collector's Edition and the 2015 L'Intense as separate listings, so you can compare formulas directly. Each is distinct, not a variant of this one. See La Nuit de l’Homme Collector’s Edition (Batch 2014) and La Nuit de l’Homme L’Intense (Batch 2015).
-
Because batch differences are a well-known talking point for this specific fragrance, testing a small size lets you form your own view of this Batch 2012 stock directly rather than relying on descriptions of other years. Sampling the 3ml to 9ml range confirms how the cardamom-lavender-cedar structure performs on your own skin before spending more.
-
It suits someone who wants a dry, aromatic-spicy fragrance with a dark woody anchor rather than a sweet or loud one, worn mostly for autumn and winter evenings. The dry-down stays intimate and close to the skin rather than projecting, so it reads considered rather than casual, and works best for someone who prefers a fragrance felt personally over one meant to fill a room.
