Is Imperia Intense just a stronger Imperia?
No, it is a genuinely different composition. The regular Imperia is a fruity-mossy blend, while Imperia Intense builds on star anise, incense and vetiver over a cashmere-wood and vanilla base.
Does the star anise dominate?
Star anise is prominent in the opening, giving a liquorice-tinged spice, but it fades as incense and orange blossom take over. It is not an anise-led scent throughout.
Is Imperia Intense a sweet or a dark scent?
It sits between the two: incense, anise and vetiver keep it dark and dry while vanilla and cashmere wood warm the base, so the sweetness stays in the background.

Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Rayhaan built its name on bold, high-impact Arabian compositions, and Imperia Intense pushes that identity further, an amplified 2022 eau de parfum that takes the house's Imperia line into darker, spicier territory. Star anise and pepper announce themselves immediately, backed by cypress and a bright citrus edge that keeps the opening from turning heavy too soon. Aromatica carries the Imperia Intense decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes, so you can experience this heightened version without buying a full bottle sight unseen. It reads as a fragrance for someone who wants a scent that fills a room and holds an audience.

Full note breakdown on the Rayhaan site.

The Scent

Pepper hits first, sharp and a little dry, riding alongside star anise's licorice-like snap and a whisper of tangerine that keeps the first few minutes from feeling too austere. Cypress sits underneath, green and slightly resinous, giving the opening a coniferous backbone rather than a purely sweet one. Within twenty minutes the incense starts to rise, and this is where the fragrance shows its spicy, temple-smoke character: thick, a little dusty, and completely different in tone from the citrus that came before. Lavender threads through the incense next, an unexpected pairing that reads almost herbal-medicinal against the smoke, and some wearers find this transition jarring while others consider it the most interesting stretch of the whole composition. Orange blossom arrives shortly after, softening the incense with a waxy, slightly indolic floral note that keeps the heart from tipping into pure austerity. Vetiver closes out the middle phase, earthy and rooty, bridging the smoky florals toward the base. The pepper from the opening never fully disappears at this stage, instead receding into the incense so that the smoke carries a faint peppery edge rather than reading as pure resin. Star anise likewise lingers at the margins of the heart, its licorice facet softened by the lavender until it becomes more of a background hum than a distinct note. By the two-hour mark, cashmere wood and sandalwood take over, creamy and smooth, and musk builds a warm skin-like presence underneath them. Vanilla arrives last and stays lightly in the background, rounding the woods without turning the drydown sweet or gourmand. Traces of the earlier vetiver persist into this stage too, keeping the sandalwood from reading as too polished and giving the base a slightly rooty grounding note. The tangerine and cypress from the top are long gone by this point, their brightness fully replaced by the warmth of cashmere wood and musk. The finished dry-down is a soft, woody-musk blend that feels far calmer than the spiced opening promised.

When to Wear

This is a cold-weather fragrance built for evening wear, suited to winter dinners, formal gatherings, and nights out where a dense, spice-forward scent won't get lost. The incense and pepper combination reads best after dark rather than under midday sun, and it pairs naturally with the kind of occasions covered in Aromatica's Rayhaan collection.

Who Is It For

Suits someone drawn to Middle Eastern-style compositions who wants more smoke and spice than sweetness, the type who reaches for incense and pepper over vanilla-forward gourmands.
