What does Freedom Musk Matcha 45 smell like?
Alexis Grugeon pairs a genuine earthy matcha and green apple opening with a creamy oat-milk, praline and coffee heart, over sandalwood, sweet musk and amber. It is a proper matcha-latte gourmand rather than the thin green-tea note matcha scents usually deliver.
How does it fit the Freedom collection?
It is the matcha entry in Kayali's four-piece 2025 Freedom line, alongside Musk Bouquet 27, Musk Santal 34 and Musk Latte 41. Choose it if you want the green, milky-gourmand one rather than the sandalwood, latte or floral musks in the set.

Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Matcha in perfumery usually means a thin green tea note and not much else. Kayali went the other way. Freedom Musk Matcha | 45 arrived in 2025 as part of the four-piece Freedom collection, an eau de parfum composed by Alexis Grugeon that sets matcha and mate over oat milk, vanilla and praline. The number is how many formulation rounds it took, which is the house's usual convention. Aromatica lists the Freedom Musk Matcha price in Bangladesh, useful given how little of this collection sells in full size.

Full note breakdown on Fragrantica.

The Scent

It opens green and slightly bitter, matcha and mate together, with green apple giving a tartness that keeps the first minutes from tasting like a health drink. Bergamot is there and does little beyond lifting the edges. Then the milk arrives, and this is the part that sells the fragrance. Oat milk and vanilla turn the green bitterness creamy without erasing it, so what you get is closer to an actual matcha latte than to a dessert. Praline adds a nutty sweetness underneath, and coffee is listed but stays in the background as a roasted warmth rather than an espresso note. The balance holds longer than expected. Reviewers repeatedly note that it does not go fully gourmand, and that the green stays legible into the dry-down instead of drowning in sugar. Musk and sandalwood carry the base along with the house's signature accord, and patchouli and vetiver keep a little earthiness under the cream. Within the Freedom collection this is the one most often named as the favourite, usually ahead of Musk Bouquet and Musk Latte, and the recurring frustration in reviews is that most of the line was released in small sizes only. If you already own the Yum line from this house, this sits at the opposite end, green and calm rather than sweet and loud. It is also one of the few gourmands that does not become suffocating in humidity, which matters more here than it does in the markets these get reviewed in. Green apple is the note most people miss on the first wear and notice on the third, sitting under the matcha as a tartness rather than as fruit. Layered over a plain vanilla it turns into something closer to a dessert, which is how a fair number of owners wear it.

When to Wear

Spring and fall, and it leans toward casual daytime wear and office hours. Mornings, work, cafes, quiet weekends, the kind of settings where a heavy gourmand would be too much. Aromatica's gourmand collection covers the sweeter neighbours.

Who Is It For

Someone who likes gourmands but wants one that is not sugary, and who would rather smell interesting than edible. It suits people who drink the thing this is named after and know how it actually smells.
