Kilian Bamboo Harmony

Most people know Kilian for dark, sweet, boozy scents. Bamboo Harmony is the opposite. Created by Calice Becker in 2012 for the Asian Tales collection, it captures a single image: a sip of white tea in the heart of a bamboo forest. It is a fresh citrus and green tea fragrance, with bergamot, neroli and bitter orange up top, tea, bamboo, maté and mimosa in the heart, and fig leaf and oakmoss in the base. It now sits in Kilian's Fresh family. Aromatica carries the Kilian Bamboo Harmony decant in Bangladesh, a light Kilian built for warm weather.

The Scent

The opening is bergamot, neroli and bitter orange. It is bright, sparkling and slightly bitter, like fresh citrus zest. Neroli gives a soft, floral lift, and several wearers find it the most prominent note in the whole scent. The citrus fades gradually but does not vanish entirely.

The heart is tea, bamboo, maté and mimosa, with a hint of spice. The tea is soft and clean rather than smoky, and maté adds a greener, richer leafy tone. Mimosa brings a light, powdery floral touch. A few wearers notice subtle spices coming through later, which gives the scent a little more interest.

The base is fig leaf, holly and oakmoss. Fig leaf adds a green, slightly milky sap note, and oakmoss gives a soft, mossy grounding. The drydown stays green and calm, never sweet or heavy.
