What does Dior Homme Intense smell like?
A deep, powdery iris scent. Lavender opens it, a heart of iris, ambrette and pear gives it a smooth, makeup-like powderiness, and a base of cedar and vetiver keeps it woody. So it reads as an elegant, slightly formal iris rather than a fresh or sweet scent. It is a 2011 release by Francois Demachy.
How is Homme Intense different from Dior Homme?
It is richer and more iris-heavy. The standard Dior Homme is lighter and more citrus-woody, while the Intense deepens the iris into a fuller, more powdery and refined composition. So the Intense is the dressier, more serious of the two.
Has Dior Homme Intense been reformulated?
Yes, more than once. This 2011 version itself reworked an earlier 2007 release, and wearers report further small changes since, with older bottles often called richer. So an old and a current bottle smell clearly related but not identical.

Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Few masculine fragrances have commanded the kind of quiet authority that Dior Homme Intense does. Launched in 2011 by perfumer Francois Demachy as a richer, deeper take on the iconic Dior Homme, this Eau de Parfum concentration leans harder into iris and wood, shedding some of the original's crisp freshness for something warmer and more enveloping. It is a powdery-floral masculine done with French precision, and Aromatica carries the Dior Homme Intense decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes.

The Scent

Lavender arrives first, but not in the barbershop way you might expect. It is soft, slightly herbal, and it steps back within minutes to make room for what this fragrance is about. Iris commands the heart, and it is a particularly rich, almost lipstick-like iris that reads simultaneously floral and powdery. Ambrette, derived from musk mallow, wraps around the iris with a skin-close, slightly fatty warmth that keeps things from feeling cold or stiff. Pear is present but understated, contributing a faint watery sweetness rather than any obvious fruitiness. As the opening notes settle, the composition turns distinctly cosmetic in the best possible way, recalling an expensive powder room or freshly ironed linen with something warmer and woodier underneath. The lavender does not disappear entirely at this stage so much as dissolve into the iris, softening its edges and keeping the heart from reading as purely floral. There is a fleeting moment, somewhere around the fifteen-minute mark, where the pear and ambrette combine to give the composition an almost skin-scent quality, intimate and close. Virginia cedar builds through the drydown, doing most of the structural work and lending a clean, slightly creamy woodiness that grounds the iris without overshadowing it. Vetiver runs beneath everything, contributing a soft earthy dryness that keeps the whole thing from tipping into soapy territory. The drydown turns noticeably powdery: some find that quality too much, others find it skin-close and intimate in exactly the right way. What remains consistent is that the iris stays prominent through every phase, never vanishing into an anonymous woody base.

It finishes as a whisper of warm cedar, dry vetiver, and musk on skin, clean and understated in equal measure. Lavender opens Dior Sauvage Elixir in a similarly understated way, before cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg take over the top.

When to Wear

Homme Intense earns its place in autumn and winter evenings, worn to dinner dates, quiet office days, or candlelit settings where a restrained, powdery warmth reads as considered rather than loud. The iris character makes it particularly suited to cooler indoor environments, from a boardroom to a slow restaurant dinner.

Who Is It For

Made for someone drawn to refined, iris-forward masculines who wants the softness and polish of a floral without sweetness or obvious cologne-style freshness. The person who shops thoughtfully, wears quiet classics, and finds loud fragrances exhausting will feel at home here.
