Description - Sauvage Eau Forte
Refined woods, never overdressed. Dior Sauvage Eau Forte Parfum from ৳789, authentic decants in Bangladesh. Notes of lavender and musk.

Removing the alcohol from a fragrance sounds like a gimmick until you smell what it does to the materials. Dior released Sauvage Eau Forte in 2024 as a flanker of Sauvage, composed by Francis Kurkdjian in an alcohol-free water-based formula the house positions as fresh as an eau de toilette and as concentrated as a parfum. Kurkdjian dropped the bergamot and lemon entirely and rebuilt the freshness out of cold spices instead. Aromatica lists the Sauvage Eau Forte price in Bangladesh next to the rest of the line.

The Scent

There is no citrus in the opening, and if you know the original Sauvage that absence is the first thing you notice. In its place are cold spices and elemi, a resin with a peppery, faintly lemon-rind quality that does the brightening work citrus normally handles. The texture is unusual. Because the formula is water and oil rather than alcohol, it lands on skin softer, without the sharp evaporative bite most designer freshies open with. Lavender is the bridge and it is bleached rather than herbal, closer to laundered linen than to a lavender field. The base is musk and woods, and this is where the Sauvage family resemblance finally arrives, though rounder and less ambroxan-driven than the eau de toilette. Reaction has split in an interesting way. Fragrantica's editorial review reads it as blue, leathery, nutty and autumnal, closer to a meeting point between Fahrenheit and Sauvage than to a simple flanker. Plenty of buyers, meanwhile, wear it as their spring and summer option and argue it is misunderstood, while others report it is too quiet next to the eau de toilette and the parfum. The other complaint that comes up more than once is the atomiser, which sprays inconsistently because of the water-based liquid. It is the most experimental thing Dior has done with Sauvage, and buying blind on the strength of the name is how people end up disappointed with it. The water-based format also changes how it behaves off skin, since it does not cling to fabric the way an alcohol formula does. Within the Sauvage line it is the outlier, sitting apart from the 2015 eau de toilette, the 2018 eau de parfum, the parfum and Elixir rather than sitting above or below any of them.

When to Wear

Spring and summer, across office days and casual wear. Weekday work, errands, humid afternoons where a heavy ambroxan freshie becomes hard to be near. Aromatica's summer collection is where the rest of this weight class lives.

Who Is It For

Someone who already owns Sauvage in another concentration and wants the version that behaves differently rather than louder. It also suits people whose skin turns the original harsh, since the alcohol-free base softens that opening considerably.

The comparison to make is with the original, and Sauvage Eau de Toilette is the parent this one reworks. Browse the full Dior collection at Aromatica.
