How is Tobacco Oud different from Tobacco Oud Intense and Tobacco Vanille?
Tobacco Oud (2013) is the dark, resinous one, built on whiskey, tobacco, oud and incense. The separate Tobacco Oud Intense is smokier and sweeter with less oud, and Tobacco Vanille is warmer and sweeter still. For a lighter oud from the same house, Oud Wood is the gentler option.
Is Tobacco Oud too harsh or smoky?
It can be, and it is not built for half-measures. The whiskey opens raw and almost medicinal and the tobacco reads ashy rather than sweet, which some find confronting and others find exactly right. The oud stays resinous rather than barnyard-animalic, so it keeps real weight while remaining more wearable than a pure oud.
Is Tobacco Oud still available?
It appears to have been discontinued, so you are most likely to find it on the secondary market or as a decant. Whenever you wear it, the dense tobacco-oud-incense base only settles properly once the air turns cold, making it a firmly wintertime, after-dark scent.

Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Few fragrances from the Tom Ford Private Blend line carry as much raw weight as Tom Ford Tobacco Oud, an eau de parfum released in 2013, composed by Olivier Gillotin, and built for those who want their fragrance to mean something. It is unisex on paper, but leans dark and confident, the kind of scent that fills a room the moment you walk in. Aromatica carries the Tom Ford Tobacco Oud decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes, giving you the chance to try this bold Private Blend creation.

The Scent

Immediate and unapologetic from first contact, Whiskey hits the nose raw and slightly medicinal, like the inside of a wooden cask that has held spirit for years. There is something almost bracing about it on skin. Within minutes, warm spice begins to move in behind it. Coriander arrives quietly, adding a dry, slightly citrus-edged spice that keeps the whiskey from turning syrupy. Cinnamon follows, contributing a gentle warmth that bridges the boozy opening toward the heavier material beneath. Unique'E Luxury Kutay opens on a similar boozy note, pairing its own whiskey accord with davana and bergamot before moving into agarwood and caramel.

The transition into the heart is where the fragrance starts to reveal its real intention. The spice settles rather than disappears, and a darker, smokier quality begins to emerge. Tobacco here is not sweet pipe tobacco and it is not cologne-ready leaf. It is raw, almost ashy, the way a room smells the morning after, where dry leaf and smoke have embedded themselves into fabric and wood. It can read confronting or exactly right, depending on the wearer.

As the dry-down deepens, oud and incense move to dominate, wrapping around the tobacco like a second skin. The oud in this composition reads as dark and resinous rather than barnyard-animalic, which makes it more wearable than some pure oud fragrances while still retaining genuine weight. Sandalwood and cedar provide a woody backbone that keeps everything grounded, while patchouli adds a faint earthy depth in the background. As the woody and resinous accord fully opens, the interplay between the tobacco's dry ash and the oud's smoky resin becomes the emotional core of the fragrance. Benzoin and vanilla soften the finish without sweetening it dramatically, pulling the composition back from severity and settling it into something that feels deliberate and complete. The base is rich and dense, settling close to skin in a way that rewards the wearer more than the room.

Opinion on this one splits interestingly. Some find it one of the finest fragrances in the entire Private Blend line, an ambitious composition that layers booze, spice, and dark wood into something genuinely complex. Others find the tobacco and smoke combination too blunt, too old-school, and not worth the price of admission. What is consistent across impressions is that it is not subtle. This is not a fragrance for half-measures.

When to Wear

Tobacco Oud belongs to autumn and winter evenings, at formal dinners, late-night gatherings, or occasions where presence matters more than being inoffensive. It suits cooler weather where the dense base notes bloom rather than overpower. Browse the Tobacco collection at Aromatica for more fragrances in this family.

Who Is It For

The wearer already knows they like dark, smoky orientals and wants a refined Western take on oud and tobacco, someone who has moved past safe choices and is looking for something with genuine character and a bit of edge.
