Swiss Arabian Rose 01

Rose 01 is the rose of Swiss Arabian's Heritage series, a 2021 eau de parfum that launched with the line's ouds, ambers and musks. It was one of eight scents in the original Heritage release, and the only rose among them. Fragrantica credits it to Jean-Louis Sieuzac. It smells like a dewy, tart red rose with juicy lychee and pink pepper on top, softening into a creamy vanilla musk. It is bold and bright rather than powdery or vintage.

The Scent

The first ten or twenty minutes are sharp. Lychee gives a sweet-sour, almost jammy fruit, bergamot adds a lemony bite, and pink pepper fizzes over both. Some reviewers find this opening sour; others love the brightness. Either way it does not last, and the rose is already pushing through. A few wearers report odd facets, from burnt rubber to plastic, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

The heart is a full Bulgarian rose, red and dewy, with peony making it rounder and pinker and a pinch of nutmeg adding warmth at the edges. This is the stage people describe as hyper-realistic, a fresh-cut rose with fruit still clinging to it. It is dense, and one or two sprays is plenty.

The base softens into vanilla, musk and cashmeran. The vanilla is creamier than in most rose scents of this style, and cashmeran gives a soft, musky wood. The late stage is a smooth rose-vanilla skin scent, still clearly rose, with the sharpness long gone.
