Description - L'Interdit Rouge Ultime
Bright bouquet over a soft base. Givenchy L'Interdit Rouge Ultime EDP from ৳757, authentic decants in Bangladesh. Notes of jasmine sambac an
Givenchy built a small dynasty out of L'Interdit, and the Rouge Ultime is where the story turns darker and warmer. Released in 2023 as an Eau de Parfum, it takes the floral backbone of the original and pushes it toward cacao and tobacco, landing somewhere between a bouquet and a dessert. Aromatica carries the L'Interdit Rouge Ultime decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes, so you can spend real time with it before deciding if the darker register suits you. Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo, and Fanny Bal built this one with a clear intention: keep the floral identity but coat it in something richer.
Fragrance Notes
Top: Tunisian Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac, Tunisian Neroli
Heart: Indian Tuberose, Cacao Pod
Base: Indonesian Patchouli Leaf, Tobacco, Ambroxan, Haitian Vetiver
The Scent
The first thing the nose registers is orange blossom, bright and a little citrus-green, with neroli trailing close behind it. Jasmine Sambac arrives almost immediately, thick and slightly indolic, so the opening never reads as thin or soapy. Within minutes the cacao pod starts to show through the florals, not sweet exactly, more like the bitter, roasted edge of raw chocolate before sugar gets involved. Indian tuberose takes over the heart and it is a creamy, heavy-lidded tuberose, not the sharp or camphorous kind some noses brace for. That is the surprise here: instead of tuberose fighting the cacao for attention, the two blend into something closer to a boozy floral than a fruit bowl. As the fragrance moves past the first hour, tobacco leaf steps in and dries the sweetness out, turning the cacao from dessert-like to something closer to dark, leafy warmth. Patchouli and vetiver ground the base, giving it an earthy, slightly smoky quality that reads more autumn than spring. Ambroxan is the quiet engine underneath all of it, giving the drydown a skin-warm, ambery hum that lingers without shouting. On some skin the cacao stays forward for hours; on others the tobacco and vetiver take over faster, so the balance between sweet and smoky genuinely shifts person to person. What stays consistent is the shape: floral top, gourmand-leaning heart, dry woody base. Worn a second time, the transition from orange blossom to tuberose feels less like a handoff and more like an overlap, with neroli lingering at the edges long after the citrus has faded. The cacao pod tends to resurface at odd moments, a faint bitterness threading back through the tobacco even as patchouli and vetiver settle into the skin. Jasmine Sambac, for its part, never fully disappears, it recedes behind the tuberose and lets the darker base notes take the lead. By the later stages, ambroxan and vetiver seem to fold into each other, so the smoky warmth feels less like a single note and more like the residue the whole composition leaves behind. Read from start to finish, the fragrance moves from a citrus-floral brightness through a chocolate-tinged bloom and settles into a dry, leafy amber that still carries a trace of the original orange blossom.
When to Wear
This one wants cooler weather, dinners that run late, and rooms with low light. Think a winter evening out, a holiday party, or a date where you want something that reads as considered rather than casual. It works well from the Givenchy collection as a cold-season counterpart to lighter florals in the same lineup.
Who Is It For
Someone who likes their florals with weight, the kind of person who reaches for a red lipstick and means it. It suits a wearer who wants tuberose without the innocence, and cacao without the sugar rush.
If you enjoy L'Interdit Rouge, it sits in the same family and is worth comparing against this darker, cacao-heavy sibling. Browse the full Givenchy collection at Aromatica.
