Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Named after the Nabataean civilization that carved Petra from raw rock, Nabatieh from French Avenue is a 2025 Eau de Parfum created by perfumer Jordi Fernandez. It is a dark, gourmand oriental built on cardamom, dates, coffee, and smoke. The kind of fragrance that declares itself immediately and does not ask permission. Aromatica carries it as a decant in Bangladesh in 3ml, 5ml, 9ml, and 15ml for anyone who wants to test the density before going full bottle.

Fragrance Notes

Top: Cardamom, Almond, Cinnamon

Heart: Dates, Coffee, Orris, Vanilla

Base: Smoke, Akigalawood, Tonka, Cedarwood

The Scent

The opening is where Nabatieh will either hook you or lose you. Cardamom and cinnamon arrive first with real heat, backed by an almond note that is dry and slightly bitter rather than sweet and marzipan-like. Multiple Fragrantica reviewers described this initial phase as astringent, even medicinal, with a sharpness that does not immediately signal the gourmand richness waiting underneath. Give it thirty minutes. Once the top notes settle, the heart unfolds into something far more approachable. Dates are the anchor, thick and dark, sitting alongside a roasted coffee note that adds bitterness and depth. Orris provides the surprise here. Rather than the typical powdery iris you find in many designer fragrances, the orris in Nabatieh reads more like a refined, slightly metallic softness that bridges the spice above with the sweetness below. Vanilla rounds the heart, but it is not the sugary, dessert-like vanilla of typical gourmands. It is richer, darker, leaning toward the base. Parfumo reviewers specifically noted a resemblance to Lattafa Khamrah in this midsection, though Nabatieh leans heavier on the date-coffee pairing. The base is where the smoky character fully arrives. Akigalawood brings a dark, woody smokiness that is modern and slightly dry, not the campfire smoke of incense fragrances. Tonka adds a familiar warm sweetness, and cedarwood structures the finish with a clean woody frame. The overall effect in the dry-down is warm, heavy, and close to the skin. This is not a projector in the traditional sense. Reviewers described the sillage as intimate rather than room-filling, which makes it better suited to close encounters than to announcing your arrival. On longevity, opinions varied. Some reported strong performance over 8+ hours, while others found it moderate. One Fragrantica reviewer noted that Nabatieh shares roughly 85% similarity with French Avenue's own Grow, with the main difference being that Nabatieh is slightly less intense and more refined in its approach to the date-spice-smoke framework.

When to Wear

Fall and winter, evenings only. The weight and smokiness make this a cold-weather fragrance. Dinners, nights out, and occasions where intimacy matters more than projection. Browse the Gourmand | Sweet collection at Aromatica for more in this family.

Who Is It For

Someone who reaches for dark, spiced gourmands and does not mind a challenging opening. If your comfort zone includes Khamrah, boozy orientals, or smoky vanillas, Nabatieh fits right in.

If you enjoy the date-coffee-vanilla axis, Lattafa Khamrah Qahwa explores similar territory with a different balance and is worth comparing. Browse the full French Avenue collection at Aromatica.
