Common Questions
Good to know
-
No, and almond is the note that misleads. Tonka, vanilla and almond stacked in a base normally signals marzipan, but the myrrh sitting above them is a dry, faintly smoky resin and it keeps the sweetness in check the whole way down. The lavender up top pulls the opening aromatic rather than edible. What you get is a warm resinous scent with a sweet edge, closer to incense than to bakery.
-
They are the range's two warm entries and they split on what carries the base. This one leads with lavender into myrrh, and the tonka, vanilla and almond underneath make it the rounder and more comforting of the pair. Vetiver & Golden Vanilla builds on cardamom and grapefruit tea over a dry, teak-like vetiver, so its warmth carries an earthy edge this one does not have.
-
Warmth makes it powdery rather than heavier, which is the surprise here. Myrrh is a resin and it does thicken on hot skin, but the almond beside it turns chalky and dry in humidity instead of creamy, so the base reads closer to scented talc than to dessert. That makes it more wearable in a Dhaka evening than the note list suggests. Midday is still too much, since the lavender is gone within minutes in this weather.
-
Myrrh & Tonka, by a clear margin. Both share a lavender-tonka-vanilla warmth, but Arabians Tonka keeps that warmth soft and mostly sweet, while this one adds a dry, faintly smoky myrrh resin through the heart that gives it a more incense-like, grown-up edge. If you want the cosier version, Arabians Tonka is softer; this one carries more shadow.
