The Scent
Blue lotus announces itself first, and it does not smell like a typical floral opening. It is watery and a little green, closer to the smell of a flower pulled straight from a pond than anything from a bouquet. There is a mineral coolness to it, almost aquatic, and that surprises people who expect La Belle's usual fruit-forward sweetness. Give it ten minutes and the lotus starts to soften, losing its sharper green edge and turning toward something powdery. On other skin it turns creamier and more dessert-like, closer to vanilla custard than a clean musk.
