Should I get the EDP or the 2025 eau de toilette?
Get this EDP if you want the fuller, buttery iris-and-musk with real depth and that cool, powdery, root-like iris at the centre. The 2025 eau de toilette is built around iris, magnolia and musk with mandarin and pink pepper up top, so it reads brighter and greener and skips the leather, ambergris and amberwood that give this version its texture. The eau de toilette makes more sense if you find the EDP too serious or want an easier warm-weather option. If you are only buying one, this is the one to test first.
Does the iris survive Dhaka heat?
Better than most iris fragrances do. The cold, root-like iris and the ambrette stay dry and powdery on warm skin instead of turning sweet, and the carrot note underneath keeps a faint earthiness that heat does not flatten. What changes is the opening: aldehydes and bergamot burn off fast here, so the slightly bitter, soapy first few minutes are much shorter than they are in cool weather. Give it ten minutes and you get the same fragrance, just with less of a preamble.

Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Skin scents are a crowded category now, and this is one of the fragrances that got there first. Diptyque released Fleur de Peau as an eau de parfum in 2018, composed by Olivier Pescheux around iris, ambrette and musk, taking its name from the French expression for wearing your feelings on the surface. The 2025 eau de toilette that followed is lighter, and the two differ enough that the concentration matters. Aromatica carries the Fleur de Peau decant in Bangladesh, which settles that question cheaply.

Full note breakdown on Fragrantica.

The Scent

Aldehydes and pink pepper give the first minutes a clean, slightly bitter lift that some people read as alcoholic straight off the sprayer. Give it ten minutes. What follows is iris, and it is the cold, powdery, root-like iris rather than the sweet cosmetic version, which is the reason this fragrance gets called melancholy so often. Turkish rose sits underneath and is barely recognisable as rose, functioning as texture rather than as a floral statement. Carrot seed is in the base and it is genuinely detectable, giving a faintly vegetal, earthy quality that several reviewers name outright. Around that, ambrette and musk build the skin accord the fragrance is known for, soft and dry rather than fluffy or laundry-clean. Sandalwood, leather and amberwood are all listed and none of them announce themselves, working instead as a warm floor under the powder. The most repeated description is that it smells like clean skin rather than like a perfume, which is exactly why some people find it worth the money and others call it an expensive nothing. Comparisons to Glossier You come up in reviews from both camps, usually as a compliment from one side and a criticism from the other. It also reads cooler and more serious than most musk releases of the last few years, so if you want cosy and sweet, this is not that. Reviewers who own both concentrations tend to prefer this one for its depth and buttery texture. The aldehydes are the detail that separates it from the wave of cheaper skin musks that followed it, since they give the opening a structure most of those releases skip entirely. In humidity the powder softens and the musk comes forward sooner, which suits it.

When to Wear

Spring and fall suit it best, and it is built for casual daily wear and office hours. Rainy days, commutes, long working afternoons, anywhere a loud fragrance would be the wrong choice. Aromatica's musk and skin scents collect the rest of this category.

Who Is It For

Someone who wants iris and musk without powder-puff sweetness, and who wears fragrance for themselves rather than for a room. It suits people who reach for the same thing every morning and want that thing to be well made.
