Common Questions
Good to know
-
Guerlain relaunched the fragrance as an Eau de Parfum within its boutique-exclusive L'Art et la Matière collection, keeping the cacao-and-spice top but building it as a fuller composition rather than a simple rename. Rum, rose and smoke fill out the heart, and a patchouli-tea base gives it a drier finish than a typical mass-market chocolate scent.
-
There is no vanilla anywhere in the pyramid. Delphine Jelk builds the cacao around spices and rum in the top and heart, then dries the composition out on patchouli and tea in the base rather than a sweet musk finish. The result reads darker and smokier than a typical dessert-style chocolate fragrance.
-
Patchouli shows up in both, but the emphasis differs. Fève Gourmande opens on cacao and spice, with patchouli only arriving late in the base alongside tea, while Patchouli Ardent puts patchouli at the center of the whole composition. Pick this one if you want the cocoa to lead.
-
Less than the cacao-forward name suggests. The opening reads as bittersweet chocolate liquor rather than milk chocolate, and smoke and rose in the heart keep it from turning candied. The patchouli-tea base finishes dry rather than sugary, so wearers who usually avoid dessert scents may find this more restrained than expected.
-
Fève Gourmande sits in Guerlain's boutique-exclusive line, priced above the brand's standard releases, so a 3ml or 5ml decant is a low-risk way to see whether the smoky cacao-and-rum profile suits you before paying niche prices for a full bottle.
