M. Micallef DesirToxic L'Intense (Eau de Parfum, 2024): Minty Spiced Citrus over Tonka, Cannabis and Mossy Musk
M. Micallef turned DesirToxic into one of its most talked-about scents, and in 2024 the house released L'Intense to push the formula harder. Composed by Thierry Romeo, this is a spicy aromatic built on the same cannabis-and-tonka idea as the original DesirToxic, but greener, mintier and more grown-up. It is the kind of scent that gets compared to a few designer heavyweights, with reason. The DesirToxic L'Intense decant in Bangladesh is stocked at Aromatica for anyone chasing that style at niche quality.
Fragrance Notes
Top: Bergamot, Cardamom, Lemon, Saffron
Heart: Blackcurrant, Mint, Tonka Bean, Cannabis, Cinnamon
Base: Musk, Patchouli, Oakmoss, Benzoin, Ambergris
The Scent
It opens loud and bright, a citrus snap of bergamot and lemon cut by a metallic saffron and a cool cardamom. Within a few minutes the mint comes through, which is the move that separates L'Intense from the original and gives it a fresher, sharper edge. Underneath that sits the cannabis accord, herbal and slightly resinous rather than smoky, blended so it never turns pungent. A tart blackcurrant adds a fruity-sulfurous lift, and cinnamon warms the heart without making it a dessert. As it dries down, the base does the heavy lifting, a tonka-and-musk fougère wrapped in oakmoss and patchouli that turns earthy and mature. Benzoin and ambergris round the edges so the moss does not go bitter. The community lands it somewhere between Layton and Sauvage Elixir, with the mint and cannabis as its own signature. Wearers report strong projection in the first hours and long wear overall. It leans masculine but carries fine on anyone who likes spicy green scents. The overall read is confident and a little brooding rather than playful. Set beside the original DesirToxic, this version moves the cannabis deeper and adds the mint, which makes it greener and more mature overall. The saffron gives the citrus opening a slightly metallic, leathery edge that keeps it from reading as a simple fresh scent. As it dries down the oakmoss and patchouli pull it firmly into fougère territory, earthy and a little bitter in a flattering way. The cannabis never smells like smoke, sitting closer to a herbal, resinous green. People who like the Layton lane tend to appreciate how this leans drier and less sweet. It performs strongly for hours and leaves a clear trail in the first half of the wear.
When to Wear
This is a cool-weather scent for fall and winter, equally at home on a night out or a relaxed evening. The projection makes it better suited to open air and dressed-up settings than a tight office.
Who Is It For
It fits someone who likes the Layton and Sauvage Elixir lane but wants something less common, and anyone drawn to minty, herbal, tonka-heavy fougères.
It sits as a more concentrated take on the brand's own DesirToxic. If you want the closest designer reference, Layton shares much of the spicy-sweet mood and is worth comparing. Browse the full M. Micallef collection at Aromatica.
