Description - Asad
Amber-led with lasting warmth. Lattafa Asad EDP from ৳396, authentic decants in Bangladesh. Notes of amber, benzoin and labdanum.

Launched in 2021, Lattafa Asad Eau de Parfum arrived as one of the most discussed releases from the Dubai-based house, and the conversation has not died down since. The name means "lion" in Arabic, and the fragrance leans into that image without any apology. Bold, spicy, and resinous through every phase, it draws instant comparisons to Dior Sauvage Elixir but carves out its own identity through a warmer, sweeter finish. Aromatica carries the Lattafa Asad decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes, so trying it is straightforward.

Fragrance Notes

Top: Black Pepper, Tobacco, Pineapple

Heart: Patchouli, Coffee, Iris

Base: Vanilla, Amber, Dry Wood, Benzoin, Labdanum

The Scent

Sharp and immediate, black pepper opens the first breath with real authority, followed almost at once by pineapple cutting in with a brief, juicy sweetness that softens the initial bite. Tobacco rides underneath from the first spray, dry and slightly leathery, giving the opening a gravitas that lighter fragrances rarely achieve. There is no tentative phase here. Asad announces itself, and the interplay between the pepper's heat and the pineapple's brightness creates a tension that keeps the nose engaged rather than registering a single blunt accord.

Within ten to fifteen minutes, the heart begins pulling focus. Patchouli and coffee build a dense, earthy foundation that reads almost edible, yet never crosses into gourmand territory. The coffee note is dark roast, not sweet latte, and it meshes with the patchouli to create texture rather than aroma alone. As the pepper fades into the background, the tobacco note shifts register slightly, moving from dry and leathery toward something more resinous, bridging the spice of the opening to the warmer, fuller heart. Iris arrives as a balancing act, introducing a velvety, slightly powdery quality that keeps the whole accord from becoming too heavy and sharp. It is a quieter note in the mix, but its absence would be felt, and it is the iris that lends Asad a measure of refinement that separates it from more blunt oriental compositions.

The dry-down is where Asad settles into something genuinely compelling. Vanilla and labdanum emerge slowly, warming the resinous character of the benzoin beneath them. Amber spreads across everything with a honeyed, golden quality, and dry wood provides a clean, structural backbone that stops the sweetness from running away. At full dry-down, the pineapple from the opening has mostly faded, though a faint fruity memory can linger in the background on certain skin types, which is the clearest point of departure from the Sauvage Elixir DNA it is so often compared against.

That comparison deserves honest treatment. Asad shares the spicy, licorice-edged warmth of Sauvage Elixir but wears smoother and closes sweeter. Where Sauvage Elixir leans sharper and more mineral, Asad tilts toward vanilla and resin. It can read as the warmer, more enveloping choice or as slightly more synthetic in the mid-phase depending on skin chemistry. Both readings agree the opening is striking and assertive.

When to Wear

Asad performs best in cooler weather, from autumn through winter, when the resinous base needs ambient cold to keep it from overwhelming. Evening occasions suit it most, whether a dinner out, a social gathering, or a night where you want the fragrance to do some of the talking before you do. It sits naturally in the Dates | Nights collection at Aromatica.

Who Is It For

Drawn to rich, spicy oriental fragrances and wanting the depth and presence of a designer-tier scent without paying designer-tier prices, the wearer Asad suits most is already orbiting Sauvage Elixir, Aventus, or Black Afgano and curious to explore the same family from a different angle.

Lattafa has since expanded the line, and the Asad Elixir is worth comparing directly if you want a darker, more concentrated take on the same DNA. Browse the full Lattafa collection at Aromatica to explore the broader range.

Available as an authentic decant in Bangladesh at Aromatica in 3ml, 5ml, 9ml, and 15ml.
