Common Questions
Good to know
-
Both build a fragrance around black tea and ginger, but Dynasty adds raspberry and nutmeg to the top and swaps in a suede-and-cashmeran base rather than a simple musk finish. Imagination keeps the formula cleaner and more minimal; Dynasty is the fruitier, suede-textured version of the same rooibos-tea idea.
-
Raspberry sits only in the top alongside bergamot, ginger and nutmeg, so it lifts the opening rather than sweetening the whole composition. Once that settles, the rooibos-tea-and-suede heart takes over, with amberwood, cedarwood and cashmeran keeping the base dry and woody rather than sweet, so the fruit reads as an accent, not the main theme.
-
Much of Lattafa's catalogue leans into heavy oud, amber or gourmand territory, but Dynasty is built around a cleaner tea-and-suede idea with only cedarwood and amberwood for weight. It reads as one of the brand's more restrained releases rather than a typical bold Arabian-style composition.
-
The rooibos-tea-and-suede pairing is unusual enough that it will not automatically suit someone used to sweeter or heavier Lattafa releases. Worn on skin you get the raspberry-ginger opening moving into a cedarwood-cashmeran base, and following that across several wears is what tells you whether it earns a full bottle.
-
Cashmeran and cedarwood both read warmer and closer to the skin as temperature rises, so the suede-and-woody base settles in sooner in humid conditions. The bergamot, ginger and clary sage in the opening fade faster under heat, meaning the rooibos-tea heart takes over earlier than it would on a cool day.
-
The rooibos tea and suede heart in Dynasty sits very close to the Clive Christian original, close enough that the core idea is easy to recognize side by side. The base is where they part ways: Dynasty leans harder into amberwood and cashmeran, while the Clive Christian version stays drier and more vetiver forward underneath. So the middle of the fragrance is the strongest match, and the finish is the part worth comparing carefully. A decant covering the full drydown is the clearest way to judge that difference.
