What is the difference between Viking and Viking Cologne?
They are effectively two different scents. The original Viking here is a bold, spicy Eau de Parfum built on rose, peppermint and warm woods, while the 2021 Viking Cologne is lighter, fresher and more citrus-aromatic. It is worth confirming which one you are buying.
How does Viking compare to Creed Aventus?
Viking is spicier and more rose-forward than Aventus, with a peppery, minty heart rather than Aventus's fruity-smoky signature. Creed positioned it as a bolder, more polarising men's release.

Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Launched in 2017 and introduced to the world from Iceland, Creed Viking Eau de Parfum is one of the house's most polarising modern releases, composed by sixth-generation perfumer Olivier Creed. Built for men who want something with presence and personality, it sits at the intersection of sharp citrus freshness and warm, earthy depth. Aromatica carries the Creed Viking decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes, making it one of the most accessible ways to experience this fragrance at its actual price.

Full note breakdown on Fragrantica.

The Scent

Bright and decisive from the first spray, Calabrian Bergamot and Sicilian Lemon hit clean and sharp, carrying that particular quality of cold, northern air rather than Mediterranean warmth. The La Reunion Baie Rose adds a faint pink-peppery fizz right at the top that stops the citrus from reading too simple. Within the first few minutes, the top dries off quickly, and the heart begins pulling the scent in a more complex direction. Peppercorn arrives first, adding a dry, spiced bite that gives Viking its edge. The Bulgarian Rose follows, but do not expect a traditional floral rose here. It reads more as a cool, mineral rose, almost abstract, functioning more as a texture than a recognisable petal note.

Then comes the peppermint, and this is where the fragrance can divide. The mint accord can read as invigorating and perfectly balanced on some skin, giving Viking a distinctive freshness that feels unlike anything else in the Creed lineup. On other skin it reads sharp to the point of medicinal in the first twenty minutes. On most skin types, the mint softens considerably as the fragrance settles into the mid-phase, pulling back behind the rose and peppercorn rather than dominating. That shift is worth paying attention to, because it is what separates a successful application from an overwhelming one.

The bergamot and lemon, having done their opening work, retreat gradually as the peppercorn and rose take full possession of the mid-stage. The interplay between the dry spice and the cool mineral rose creates a tension that keeps the heart from ever feeling static. There is movement here, a quiet push and pull between warmth and coolness, between the botanical sharpness of the mint and the grounded earthiness beginning to surface from below. The transition out of the heart is gradual and deliberate, the citrus long since faded, what remains a cool, spiced core that begins reaching for the warmth underneath.

The dry-down is where Viking earns its most consistent admiration. Haitian Vetiver grounds the composition with an earthy, slightly smoky depth. Indian Sandalwood adds creaminess without sweetness, and the patchouli keeps things slightly dark and resinous without tipping into heaviness. Lavandin absolute weaves through the base as a quiet thread, giving the whole dry-down a classical aromatic fougere character that nods firmly to Creed's heritage. The peppercorn from the heart does not fully disappear at this stage. It lingers in trace amounts, keeping the base from becoming too soft or predictable. The overall arc is from cold, sharp, and bracing to warm, woody, and grounded, and the progression between those two states is handled with more nuance than Viking's polarising reputation might suggest. That same vetiver-and-sandalwood foundation is what makes Creed Bois du Portugal, built on bergamot, lavender, and a comparable woody-amber base, feel like a quieter, more classical relative of this one.

When to Wear

Viking performs best in cooler weather, from autumn through winter, and suits formal or semi-formal settings where you want your fragrance to make a considered impression. It is the kind of scent suited to evening occasions, business dinners, or situations where understated power matters more than sweetness. Who Is It For

Drawn to cool, structured masculinity in fragrance, the Viking wearer wants a luxury aromatic with genuine complexity rather than something safe and inoffensive. It suits men comfortable with a fragrance that has a clear point of view and does not try to please everyone in the room.
