About our decants

At Aromatica, we hand-decant authentic perfumes from original full-size bottles into smaller atomizers. This lets you experience the full dry-down on your skin before committing to a full bottle, or own and wear several signature scents at a fraction of the cost.

3ml, 5ml, 9ml, and 15ml decant sizes

Please note: bottle visuals shown above may vary slightly from the current bottles in use; the volumes remain the same. Decants are produced manually in a sterilized environment and shipped with a spray atomizer.

Description

About this fragrance

Most vanilla fragrances chase dessert. Antoine Lie went after the raw bean instead. Les Indemodables released Vanille Havane in 2020 as an eau de parfum exploring the darker facets of a gourmet-grade black vanilla pod, and it became the small French house's most discussed release by a distance. Tobacco, cacao and rum sit around the vanilla, with an ambery leather base underneath. Aromatica carries the Vanille Havane decant in Bangladesh, which is the only sensible entry point at this price.

Common Questions

Good to know

  • Vanille Havane sits between two familiar names without copying either one. It shares the boozy warmth of Spiritueuse Double Vanille but stays drier and dustier, built on rum and dried fruit rather than a sweeter vanilla base, and it trades Tobacco Vanille's honeyed sweetness for a darker, more bitter tobacco character instead. Anyone who already knows both those references will find this reads like the dry, smoky midpoint between them rather than matching either one directly.
  • Vanille Havane is the 2020 eau de parfum built around a dark, gourmet-grade black vanilla with dried fruit and rum facets that read close to cola. The house also sells Les Indémodables Vanille Havane Extrait Absolu, and it is not simply a stronger version. The extrait leans drier and less sweet than this eau de parfum, trading some of the rum-cola warmth for a more austere vanilla.

Fragrance Notes

Base:

Fragrantica does not break Vanille Havane into a tiered top, heart and base pyramid, and the brand itself publishes only partial ingredient percentages rather than a staged breakdown. The tags above are left blank rather than filled with a guess. What is confirmed, as a flat list, is: Tobacco, Cacao, Rum, Vanilla, Dried Fruits, Amber, Leather, and Floral Notes.

Full note breakdown on Fragrantica.

The Scent

The first stage is tobacco and cacao, and it is unmistakably a cigar impression rather than a chocolate one. Dry, bitter and slightly dusty, with rum and dried fruits giving a boozy richness underneath that several reviewers compare to aged dark rum rather than the sweet supermarket kind. The vanilla is present from the start but does not take over until later, and when it does it arrives dark and unsweetened, closer to the inside of a scraped pod than to anything from a bakery. Cacao stays through the middle as a powdery bitterness. The dried fruit and rum combination produces something a few people read as cola, which is a fair description of that accord. Underneath everything sit amber and leather, and this is where the fragrance gets its weight and its reputation for feeling grown up. Reviews are consistent about quality and divided about what they actually smell, since a significant number of people report no tobacco or leather at all and experience it as a boozy vanilla and cacao. Comparisons to L'Artisan's Havana Vanille come up almost every time it is discussed, along with the observation that it resembles Shalimar with the florals and fruit stripped out. Whichever camp you land in, the material quality is not in dispute, and it is the sort of fragrance that reads as expensive to people who cannot name why. Worth knowing before you commit: the house also sells an extrait version, and reviewers who own both describe the extrait as drier and less sweet rather than as an upgrade. It is a cold-weather fragrance in origin, though it works here after dark once the temperature drops.

When to Wear

Fall and winter, weighted toward evenings and dates. Cold nights, dinners, long sit-down occasions where the warmth has time to develop. Aromatica's tobacco fragrances are the nearest neighbours in the catalogue.

Who Is It For

Someone who has worked through the mainstream vanillas and wants the version with tobacco and rum doing the heavy lifting. It suits people who like their gourmands dark, dry and a little bitter.

For the closest comparisons already in stock, Spiritueuse Double Vanille covers the boozy vanilla side and Tobacco Vanille the sweeter tobacco side. Both are worth smelling against it.

Available as an authentic decant in Bangladesh at Aromatica in 3ml and 5ml.
