Common Questions
Good to know
-
The original Eau de Parfum builds its warmth from honey, gardenia and caramel, landing as floral-gourmand rather than pure dessert. Scandal Le Parfum reworks that base into something sweeter and saltier, driven harder by caramel. If you tried one expecting the other's balance of honey against caramel, that is the main difference. See Scandal Le Parfum.
-
Both, but sequentially. Blood orange and honey lead the opening, then in the dry-down beeswax, caramel and licorice add a savory, almost syrupy edge underneath. That licorice note is faint but real, and it is what keeps Scandal from settling into an ordinary sweet gourmand.
-
The honey and caramel base is rich, built for evening warmth, so it leans best toward cooler weather and nighttime wear. A light, sparing application can still carry it into daytime for anyone who already enjoys a sweet floral-gourmand style.
-
The licorice in the base is the one to watch. On some skin it folds quietly into the beeswax and reads as an elegant, unexpected touch; on others it sits sharper against the honey and can come across as almost medicinal. Testing on your own skin before a full bottle is worth it here.
-
Warm, humid conditions intensify heavy, waxy notes like honey and beeswax, so Scandal's already-rich base can sit thicker and closer to the skin on a hot evening than it would in a cooler climate. Applying fewer sprays helps keep that honeycomb density from becoming overwhelming in high heat.
-
Its honey-caramel-licorice combination is distinctive but not universally loved, particularly the anisic edge in the base that some find sophisticated and others find odd. A 3ml or 5ml decant is a low-risk way to live with that base note across a few wears before deciding it belongs in your collection.
