Description - Neroli Amara
Crisp lemon over a peppery base. Genuine Van Cleef Neroli Amara EDP decant from ৳997 in Bangladesh. Notes of italian lemon, mandarin orange

Released in 2018 as part of their Collection Extraordinaire, Neroli Amara by Van Cleef & Arpels is one of the most quietly assured things the house has made. Perfumer Quentin Bisch built this Eau de Parfum around bitter orange blossom, shaping a unisex composition that reads Mediterranean and sun-washed without ever tipping into sunscreen territory. Aromatica carries the Van Cleef & Arpels Neroli Amara decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes.

Fragrance Notes

Top: Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, Italian Lemon, Pink Pepper

Heart: Orange Blossom, Cypress, Pear, Black Pepper

Base: Neroli, White Musk

The Scent

Luminous citrus leads the way, bergamot and Italian lemon arriving together with a juicy underlay of mandarin that keeps the whole thing from reading as sharp or astringent. Pink pepper enters almost immediately, not as a hot spice but as a brightness amplifier, adding a subtle electric buzz to the citrus without shifting its character. The result in those first minutes is a citrus accord that feels polished rather than raw, with a faint aromatic hum running underneath it. The bergamot holds its ground longer than expected, its cool bitter edge threading through the mandarin's warmth and keeping the opening from collapsing into simple sweetness. Italian lemon sharpens the edges briefly before yielding, leaving behind a clean luminosity that bridges the citrus top into what follows. Within a few minutes the composition begins to settle and the heart notes start shaping what follows. Orange blossom is the pivot point here, soft and full rather than heady or indolic, with a clarity that keeps it from reading as heavy floral. Cypress pulls everything slightly green and aromatic alongside it, lending a Mediterranean quality that feels genuinely outdoorsy rather than constructed. Pear adds a translucent sweetness to the heart that can feel delicate and atmospheric, though on some skin it reads almost too airy, and this is where the fragrance can diverge between wearers. Black pepper adds enough of an edge to keep the pear from collapsing into fruity-sweet, giving the composition a quiet tension that holds it together through the middle phase. That interplay between sweetness and green spice is what makes the heart feel more considered than a straightforward white floral. The cypress deserves particular attention here: it does not dominate but instead provides a cool, resinous spine that prevents the florals from drifting into softness. As the composition moves toward the dry-down, it undergoes a subtle but meaningful shift in character. Neroli settles at the base, a cleaner and more abstract iteration of the orange blossom that preceded it. Where the heart orange blossom was rounded and full, the base neroli reads more distilled and skin-like, a cooler version of the same raw material. White musk anchors the whole structure in a soft, powdery warmth that is easy to wear and avoids heaviness entirely. The overall arc is a gradual transition from bright, sparkling citrus through a green-floral middle phase into something warmer and more personal on skin. The dry-down is intimate rather than expansive, and the fragrance rewards close proximity more than it announces itself from a distance. The composition can feel deceptively quiet, with wearers occasionally losing track of it on their own skin while others nearby remain aware of it. That quality gives it a particular usefulness for situations where presence is wanted but not dominance. It is a fragrance that evolves rather than declares itself, rewarding patience through each stage of wear.

When to Wear

Spring and summer are the natural home for Neroli Amara, particularly in warm weather where citrus and white florals thrive outdoors. It suits daytime occasions well, from weekend mornings to garden events and casual lunches where something fresh but considered is appropriate.

Who Is It For

Wearers who gravitate toward clean, citrus-anchored fragrances but want more architectural depth than a standard cologne offers will find this rewarding. It suits those who enjoy the quiet refinement of Mediterranean-inspired florals without demanding loudness or volume.

If you enjoy Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, Neroli Amara occupies the same bright neroli-citrus family and is worth comparing for a softer, more skin-close interpretation. Browse the full Van Cleef & Arpels collection at Aromatica.
