Common Questions
Good to know
-
Powder against fruit. Absolutely Blooming opens on raspberry, black currant, pomegranate and pink pepper into May rose and peony over white musk, so it is berry-led and bright the whole way. The 2021 Eau de Parfum starts on iris, peony and lily of the valley instead, keeps the fruit to a soft apricot and peach in the heart, and closes on vanilla, tonka, sandalwood and benzoin. Absolutely Blooming is the fruity one; this is the powdery, grown-up one.
-
They move in opposite directions. Iris stays cool and dry on warm skin, which is why powdery florals survive this climate better than sweet ones, but apricot and peach both get fuller and jammier in humidity, so the fruit in the heart is more obvious here than in a cool European spring. The vanilla and benzoin base then warms up behind them, shifting the fragrance from a powdery floral toward a soft fruity-oriental as the day goes on.
-
On cooler or drier skin, yes, since the iris-powder phase can dominate and read as restrained and minimal. On warmer skin the vanilla and peach notes tend to amplify, making the composition feel fuller and less powdery overall. Iris-averse wearers with naturally warm skin may find this more comfortable than the description suggests.
-
JOY Intense leans on the same vanilla-tonka-sandalwood-musk base, but builds its opening around a Grasse rose and jasmine heart brightened by bergamot and neroli rather than iris, peony and lily of the valley. If the base here appeals but the powdery iris opening does not, JOY Intense offers a brighter alternative route to it.
-
This Eau de Parfum is frequently compared to Miss Dior Essence, the line's darker, denser reimagining. Where this version opens on iris and peony for a soft, powdery, almost cosmetic character, Essence trades that for thick blackberry and black elder alongside jasmine and oak, landing heavier and more saturated rather than delicate and rosy.
