Few fragrance houses have made a single flower as iconic as Kenzo did with their 2000 original, and the Flower by Kenzo Poppy Bouquet Eau de Parfum, launched in 2020 by perfumers Alberto Morillas and Dora Baghriche, is exactly that same botanical impulse pushed in a fruitier direction. It is a flanker of the iconic Flower by Kenzo, but it does not try to replicate the original. Instead, it trades the rose-heavy soapiness of its parent for a brighter, juicier personality built around pear, gardenia, and almond. The Scent
Crisp and slightly fizzy, nashi pear is the first thing the nose registers, reading as bright and real rather than candied or heavy. There is a subtle green quality to the pear in the opening seconds, as if the fruit is still firm and freshly cut. The pear does not smell like a candy or a dessert; it smells like the real thing, with a faintly watery skin-like quality underneath the sweetness. Within the first few minutes, gardenia starts pushing through and the composition gains a creamy, white-floral softness that rounds off the sharp edges of the fruit. The gardenia here is plush but not suffocating; it adds body to the pear without turning the whole thing into a generic white floral. By the ten-minute mark you are firmly in floral territory, with Bulgarian rose adding depth and a gentle powdery quality beneath the gardenia. The rose here is not sharp or soliflore; it blends with the gardenia to create a layered, slightly dewy floral heart that feels airy rather than dense. The interplay between rose and gardenia is where the fragrance earns its character: the gardenia keeps things creamy and modern, while the Bulgarian rose lends a soft, traditional femininity that keeps it from feeling anonymous. It can read close to the original Flower by Kenzo in feel or noticeably fresher and less soapy depending on skin, so there is real variation in how different the two genuinely smell past the opening.
