What is Wanted Tonic compared to?
Its fresh, gingery character has drawn comparisons to Hugo Boss Bottled Tonic. Within the Azzaro line it is the bright, warm weather counterpart to Wanted EDP and the darker Wanted by Night, sitting closer to the citrus end of the family.
How is it different from the original Wanted?
It shares the Wanted attitude but strips it down to a fresh, spicy tonic. Where the original leans woody aromatic on juniper and vetiver, Tonic is lighter and more citrus and ginger driven, so it reads as the summer member of the family overall.
Is the ginger note in Wanted Tonic sharp or candied?
It reads raw and root forward rather than candied. The ginger is lemony and spicy at once, adding a dry, almost peppery character that avoids the heavy spice territory of a fragrance like Wanted by Night, keeping the overall composition light through the whole heart phase of the wear.
Does Wanted Tonic's lime opening fade quickly on skin?
Yes, by design. The lime reads clean and almost carbonated for the first few minutes, genuinely fizzy on the skin, before it softens around the ten minute mark and the ginger heart arrives to carry the fragrance forward into its patchouli base.

Notes, the scent, when to wear, and who it is for.

Fresh, sharp, and built for warm weather, Azzaro Wanted Tonic is what happens when a spicy masculine line strips itself back to its most essential form. Released in 2020 as a flanker to the original Azzaro Wanted (2016), composed by Fabrice Pellegrin, this Eau de Toilette takes the bold, cowboy-on-a-motorbike attitude of the Wanted line and trades some of its heavier warmth for a cold-water brightness. Aromatica carries the Azzaro Wanted Tonic decant in Bangladesh in all available sizes, so you can test it properly.

The Scent

Lime leads here with a clean, almost carbonated quality, and that tonic-water character is no accident. It genuinely smells like someone squeezed a lime wedge over sparkling water, bright and slightly bitter at the edges, with a fizziness that sits on the skin for the first few minutes. There is nothing muddied or layered about it at this stage. It reads modern and uncomplicated. Then, around the ten-minute mark, the lime starts to soften and the ginger arrives. This is where Wanted Tonic earns its keep. The ginger here is lemony and spicy at once, a root-forward accord that adds a dry, almost peppery character without tipping into the heavy spice territory you get from something like Wanted by Night. It feels alive. The transition from the citrus to the ginger heart is smooth rather than abrupt, and during that middle window, the fragrance smells genuinely interesting. There is a cool-warm tension between the fading lime and the incoming spice that makes this phase the most rewarding the composition has to offer. The citrus does not disappear entirely at this point but instead recedes slowly, lending a faint brightness that keeps the ginger from turning too dry or austere. As the heart settles, the patchouli base begins to make itself known in the dry-down. Azzaro keeps the patchouli here light and clean rather than earthy and dense, which is the right call for a fresh summer fragrance. It provides a faint woody warmth that grounds the composition without dragging it into heavier territory. The ginger and patchouli meet in the late dry-down with a quiet cohesion, the spice softening into the wood rather than clashing against it.

The final dry-down is a quiet, slightly woody ginger skin scent. It can feel safe or even simple by this point, and that is a fair reading. What you get is clean, presentable, and pleasant, but it does not surprise you the way the opening does. That said, the three-note structure is intentionally lean, and within its lane it is executed confidently. The minimalism is a design choice, not a limitation, and the result is a fragrance that never overstays its welcome or demands attention it has not earned.

When to Wear

Wanted Tonic is best suited to spring and summer days, whether that is an office environment, a weekend outing, or an outdoor lunch. It belongs in the Work and Routine rotation for warmer months. Avoid heavy layers or cold evenings, where the lime will feel thin and the patchouli will not have enough warmth to compensate.

Who Is It For

Someone who wants a clean, citrus-forward daily option that is more interesting than a generic aquatic but less demanding than a full spicy oriental will find this a natural fit. It suits a person who is practical about fragrance and wants something presentable without overthinking it.

If you enjoy Wanted EDP, the Tonic sits in the same family but reads considerably fresher and lighter. Browse the full Azzaro collection at Aromatica.
